Louise Emma Hartfield, 98, of Jefferson, Texas, peacefully entered eternal rest on February 10, 2026, at her home. She was born on June 10, 1927, in Marion County, Texas, to the late Simon Harrington and the late Louisia Alexander Young.
Louise received her early education at Morning Star School in Jefferson, Texas. Guided by a natural gift for creativity and service, she later pursued cosmetology and sewing, developing skills that allowed her to uplift others through beauty and craftsmanship. At a young age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Morning Star Baptist Church—a deci- sion that shaped her character, her calling, and the compassionate way she lived her life.
Her journey led her from Jefferson to Houston and then to California, where she built a career and retired from South- western Bell Telephone Company. Yet her heart remained tied to home. Upon returning to Jefferson, her ministry blos- somed even further. Louise faithfully served as co-pastor of Morning Star Church, ministering with grace, wisdom, and a steadfast devotion to God’s people.
Louise was also beloved across the region as a gospel radio host for The Word on 104.5 KJTX. Her warm voice, scripture readings, and uplifting messages brought comfort, encouragement, and spiritual nourishment to countless listeners.
Louise married George Hartfield, who preceded her in death. Their union was grounded in faith, love, and shared pur- pose. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: W. H. Ford, Hestell Jenkins, Major Ford, Willie Byers, and Henry Ford, her nieces and nephews: Elnora Tatum, General Ford, Yvonne Davis, Kay Ford, and Willie A. Ford, and bonus children Marianetta Hartfield and Ethel Traylor.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted nephews: Bobby Ford, Scelester Ford, David Ford, Felton Davis, Jr. ,and Mi- chael Smith; her loving nieces: Jurel N. White, Melva Belvin, and Gloria Crayton; her cherished bonus children: Brenda Hartfield, Gregory Hartfield, Jocqulyn Boyd, Synthia Bryant, Rodney Hartfield, and Rhoshunda Hartfield; and her special church member and caregiver, whom she lovingly called her Goddaughter, Tina Greene. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members, church members, friends, and all whose lives were touched by her presence.
Louise E. Hartfield lived a life marked by purpose, faith, and unwavering devotion. Her legacy of love, ministry, and en- couragement will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
