Diane Janette Burton, age 76, entered her eternal rest on May 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Diane lived a life defined by service, compassion, and unwavering faith.
Diane was united in marriage to Daniel Burton on April 29, 1978, a partnership rooted in love, devotion, and shared purpose. She was the cherished daughter of the late Oletha and John Bell and is preceded in death by her beloved sister Evette Lorraine Hurst, and beloved sister-in-law Shanta Renol Bell.
She leaves to honor her memory her daughter, Patrice Hester, and her siblings: Sharon Theresa Wells, Donna Rae Epps, John Milton McGhee, and wife Patrice Deniese McGhee, Rhoda Lynn Bell, Marcellus Duress Bell, and Brett Cornell Bell. Diane is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply sand prayers for faithfully.
A proud graduate of East High School, Class of 1968, Diane pursued her calling in healthcare by attending nursing school in 1979. Throughout her long and impactful nursing car, she served as a beach of light within the hospital environment, offering comfort, skill, and kindness to countless patients and families. Her passion for caregiving extended into her education when she joined Panola College in Marshall, Texas, where she trained the next generation of Certified Nursing Assistants for more than five years. She later concluded her professional journey as an LPN with Dr. Welcher in Marshall, Texas.
Diane's service extended far beyond her profession. For 30 years, she faithfully served as a deaconess and church clerk at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, guiding both children and adults toward spiritual growth and a deeper relationship with the Lord. Her ministry touched lives in ways that will echo for generations.
Known for her warmth and generosity. Diane opened her home and her heart to anyone in need. Whether offering shelter, encouragement, or a comforting meal, she embodied the true meaning of Christian love. Among her many gifts, she was especially celebrated for her legendary five-flavored pound cake, a treasured family favorite.
Memorial services will be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Jefferson, TX, followed by a final home going celebration and graveside service in Jefferson, TX.
